We talked about sales development with Kyle C Grant, the CEO and Founder of Oxwash. This is a company that is saving the planet from the impact of washing.

1.How would you describe your company in an elevator pitch?
Oxwash exists to permanently eliminate the impact of washing on our planet and us.

2. What are you the best at?
Our team is an all-star unit of engineers, growth marketers, scientists and operators with a passionate desire to deliver the best laundry and wet cleaning service in the world, without costing the earth. Personally, I would say my strengths lie in strategic planning, identifying trends in the market before they happen, and creating entirely new ways to make peoples lives easier, and at a fraction of the financial and environmental cost. I have also been told I have great hair and would be a 3/10 without it haha.

3. How did you find your first customers?
In my university friendship group!

4. What are your customers saying about your product?
Check out our google reviews. Here’s one favorite we had recently:

Tired of poor service and value from other London (non-Green), traditional collect/deliver laundry services that I’ve used during lock-downs, I was intrigued by Chris Fox’s Christmas Eve BBC Technology piece on Kyle Grant’s Oxwash and this UK start-up’s innovative, green approach to laundry, pick-up and delivery , so gave it a try with my first order being 24kg of mixed wash, dry and fold laundry from the London ‘lagoon’ in Battersea.
My order was delivered this afternoon. Not only was everything wonderfully clean, but it was also dried and folded so perfectly that, instead of having to spend an hour refolding to put everything away, I was able to unpack and put things away immediately.

Also, none of the usual stink of cheap floral conditioners used by most laundries – just perfectly ozone-clean and no fading or bleach spotting on darks like much-loved vintage T-shirts. Massively better that anything I’ve experienced from the established, but non-green competition.

Value was superb and the standard of customer service so flawless that major companies should sign-up for process and CS master-classes from Kyle and his crew and my alma mater, London Business School, should get Kyle and his team to teach some of their start-up electives.
The best test of any business is how it responds to inevitable problems – the electric cargo bike delivering my order from Battersea to Stockwell this afternoon suffered a puncture en route, and I had an immediate call from the wonderful ‘Eden’ at Battersea to tell me about it and to apologize for a delay in delivery. However the Oxwash back-up system was so good, that, even on a Bank Holiday, the puncture was repaired and, only 20 minutes after Eden’s call, their delivery rider, Dominic, texted to say he’d arrived at my house.
Let’s not forget the flawless pick-up of my laundry on 30 December by Joby O – perhaps Bowie’s ‘Heroes’ should be the Oxwash corporate anthem?
From now on, Oxwash has all my laundry business, I’m spreading the word to all my friends and I wish Kyle and his amazingly competent and enthusiastic crew the stellar 2022 of success and expansion that they so richly deserve. It’s a great experience as a customer in these times, in which it is increasingly difficult to have any trust or faith in politicians, bankers and businessmen, to feel that you’ve had a great service experience and value from a start-up, but also to feel that, in some small way, the transaction has marked a radical departure for doing good for yourself as well as for the future of the planet by engaging with a business.
